I discovered my love for words at 10 when I was given a manual typewriter. However, I soon abandoned my word-loving ways for steady work in finance and earned a degree in accounting. Several years ago, I returned to my Word Nerd calling by becoming a freelance copyeditor, proofreader, and creator of back-of-the-book and embedded indexes. I've since completed many courses, including the specialized copyediting program at UCSD and UC Berkeley’s Indexing Theory and Application.
🚫 I do not edit/index erotica, horror, religious, supernatural, or political material, nor do I review books I work on; the possible conflict of interest may weaken the value of the review.
Organization, efficiency, attention to detail, and dependability are crucial skills for a copyeditor/indexer and are among my strengths. I've worked on everything from children's books, general nonfiction, and résumés, to self-improvement books, blogs, and hundreds of presentations for AWS re:Invent conferences. Using the style guide of your choice, I will ensure your piece shines.
