I discovered my love for words at 10 when I was given a manual typewriter. However, I soon abandoned my word-loving ways for steady work in finance and earned a degree in accounting. Several years ago, I resumed my Word Nerd status as a freelance copy editor, proofreader, and writer of back-of-the-book and embedded indexes. I've completed many courses, including a specialized copyediting program at UCSD, and UC Berkeley’s Indexing Theory and Application.
I recently judged the ACES Headline Contest, and currently serve on the marketing and membership committees of the American Society of Indexers, as well as its Key Words editorial board. I am also an elected Member at Large on the Editorial Freelancers Association's Board of Governors.
Organization, efficiency, attention to detail, and dependability are crucial skills for a copy editor/indexer and are among my strengths. I've worked on everything from children's books, general nonfiction, and résumés, to self-improvement books, B2B, and hundreds of presentations for AWS (Amazon Web Services) re:Invent conferences. Using the style guide of your choice, I will ensure your piece shines.

As a lifelong California girl—currently residing with my family not too far from the Mexican border—I’m familiar with common US customs as well as the Latino culture.
🚫 I do not edit/index erotica, horror, religious, supernatural, or political material, nor do I review books I work on; the possible conflict of interest may weaken the value of the review.
